These soft and chewy homemade caramel toffees are made on the stovetop with just three ingredients — sugar, cream and butter. They’re easy to make, taste delicious, and are perfect for gifting, snacking, or storing for small treats through the week.
Ingredients
- 2 cups bura sugar
- 1 cup cream
- 1/4 cup butter
Instructions
- In a heavy-bottom pan, add sugar and heat on low flame, stirring continuously until it melts. Allow it to turn a light golden-brown, but do not let it burn.
- Carefully, add cream while stirring (the mixture will bubble).
- Mix until the caramel and cream blend into a smooth texture.
- Add butter and continue stirring until the mixture becomes thick and glossy.
- Pour immediately into a butter-paper-lined tray and tap gently to release air bubbles.
- Let it cool completely and rest for 5–6 hours to set.
- Cut into pieces using a greased sharp knife.
- Wrap each piece in butter paper and store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
Notes
- Instead of bura sugar, you could use granulated sugar. Don't use icing sugar as it may contain corn starch.
